This prestigious honour highlights the dedication, expertise, and critical contributions of these scholars, whose work is shaping the future of global health.
In 2024, Prof. Dr. Don Eliseo Lucero Prisno III, Yusuff Adebayo Adebisi, Dr. Thinley Dorji, and Dr. Jason Huang have made it to this esteemed list of the World’s Top 2% Scientists for 2024. Their global recognition reflects the high-quality, innovative research they conduct in diverse areas of public health. Prof. Dr. Don Eliseo Lucero Prisno III – Philippines
A trailblazer and leader in global health, Prof. Dr. Don Prisno is the Founder of GHF and the visionary behind the Global Health Focus University Excellence initiative, which builds research capacity in resource-limited settings. With a career marked by over 400 high-quality scientific publications, Dr. Prisno’s influence is far-reaching. He also teaches at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine (LSHTM), where he is among the top 100 academics. Dr. Prisno’s academic journey includes a PhD in Global Health from Cardiff University, an MPH from the Royal Tropical Institute in Amsterdam, and an MSc in Health Economics from Erasmus University in Rotterdam. His pioneering work has earned him numerous awards, such as The Outstanding Young Man (TOYM) in Global Health (2009) and the Global Health Promotion Practice Award (2013). As the Founder of Global Health Focus and Founding Editor-in-Chief of Public Health Challenges, Dr. Prisno’s vision and leadership have paved the way for numerous health research advancements. Dr. Prisno’s research and advocacy continue to shape health policies globally, particularly in addressing health and research inequities in developing countries.
Yusuff Adebayo Adebisi – Nigeria
Yusuff Adebayo Adebisi is a dynamic epidemiologist and global health advocate dedicated to advancing public health through research, innovation, and mentorship. A pharmacy graduate from the University of Ibadan with an MSc in Global Health Science and Epidemiology from the University of Oxford, Yusuff is currently pursuing his PhD at the University of Glasgow. As Global Director for Research and Thought Leadership at Global Health Focus (GHF), Yusuff has impacted over 26 countries, inspiring a new generation of global health leaders. With an impressive portfolio of over 200 peer-reviewed publications, Yusuff is recognized as one of Nigeria’s top 100 researchers. Recently, Yusuff was awarded a grant by the Robert Koch Institute under the German Federal Ministry of Health to advance antimicrobial resistance (AMR) research across 13 ECOWAS countries. His contributions to public health have also earned him the prestigious Princess Diana Award, highlighting his commitment to health equity and capacity-building for young researchers across Africa.
Dr. Thinley Dorji – Bhutan
As GHF Asia’s Director for Research and an Editorial Board Member of Public Health Challenges, Dr. Thinley Dorji plays a key role in shaping health research and policy across Asia. He has published over 50 papers in prominent journals, focusing on public health, infectious diseases, and medical education. Dr. Dorji’s research spans critical areas such as HPV vaccination in low- and middle-income countries, internet addiction among adolescents, and the impact of faculty development on medical education in Bhutan. His work is a cornerstone of public health innovation in the region, contributing to healthier communities through evidence-based research.
Dr. Jason Huang – China
Dr. Jason Huang is known for his innovative contributions to cancer epidemiology, big data research, and digital health. An Assistant Professor at the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) and Deputy Director of the Centre for Health Education and Health Promotion, Dr. Huang has published extensively in top journals like The Lancet Haematology and Gastroenterology. Dr. Huang has received over 20 research awards, including the APEC Healthy Women, Healthy Economies Research Prize for his work on the global burden of endometrial cancer. His leadership extends to his role as Chairman of the Non-Communicable Diseases Working Group of the Global Health Programme within the Association of Pacific Rim Universities (APRU), where he promotes primary care and cancer prevention across Asia.
